1996 Toyota Camry LE V6 Collectors Edition

One of the first Camry's I've ever owned was a 1996 Toyota Camry Le V6. This was and still is a great car. With a 3.0 liter aluminum 1MZ-FE V6 engine this car packed a big punch with 190 Horse Power. Unlike other camry's mine was a collectors edition. The difference here was it came with more of the premium features like an upgraded sound system, leather seats, dual airbags, 4 wheel Anti-lock Brakes. I mean this thing was amazing. The exterior is also very nice. To top it off, it also had a spoiler.

Lets get into logistics, this car has gotten 24-26 Miles Per Gallon Highway and 17-19 in the city. Not bad considering its a 1996 Toyota Camry V6. This car also came with an ECT Button and Overdrive Off button.
ECT stands for Electronically Controlled Transmission. This allows for the computer to gain complete control of the transmission, allowing you to harness more speed, it also makes it feel more sporty. At the cost of your gas mileage.

The Overdrive Off Button when depressed locks the transmission out of the top gear. This in turn allows you to get more power. Let me explain. When you lock out the top gear, which in this case is the 4th, then you are forced to use a lower gear. What the top gear allows you to do is go at higher speeds with lower RPM's (Revolutions Per Minute). This in turn allows for good gas mileage. So when you turn off the overdrive option, then your RPM's instantly rise, giving you more power. This is good when you are towing something, which I never did, or if you need to get speed really fast.

When I got this car, I used Allstate car insurance.

In the next post, I will talk about the problems I had with this car.

Welcome To My Blog

Hello,
welcome to my blog about reliable cars that I have come in contact with my life. I have lots of experience dealing with many cars from a variety of companies since 1981. Throughout my posts you will see what cars I have owned, and what problems I've had with them. I've never been in an accident, so all problems being shown here are directly related to problems with the cars themselves. I'll also talk about some of the car insurance I used.

Thanks
